Bokk - The island and the forest by Erika Åberg et Lotta H. Löthgren

The Island and the Forest is a knitted correspondence: an exchange of letters and knitting patterns between two Swedish designers, Erika Åberg, based on the island of Gotland, and Lotta H. Löthgren, who lives in a forest in southeastern Sweden.

The chapters of the book explore the four elements — earth, water, fire, and air — through the changing seasons and the natural world. In their letters, Erika and Lotta reflect on the small moments of everyday life and how they give rise to bigger questions about meaning, creativity, and belonging.

The book includes 12 knitwear designs, created to be both timeless and practical.

“The book you hold is our attempt to interpret our surroundings — the landscape, its atmosphere, and the passage of time — through knitting,” say Erika and Lotta.
