Knitting Kit – Color Kaleidoscope Shawl by Stephen West

The 17th annual Westknits MKAL is here, and this year, get ready to play with colour! For Color Kaleidoscope, Stephen West has designed a vibrant mystery shawl featuring eight contrasting colours of fingering-weight yarn.

The first clue will be released on Thursday, October 1. The Westknits MKAL is the perfect opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, discover fun new techniques and, most importantly, enjoy the surprise! Detailed video tutorials will accompany the techniques featured in the pattern.

A new clue will be released each week for four weeks. There is no way of knowing exactly where Stephen will take us until the very end—and that is precisely what makes the MKAL so much fun!

Choosing eight colours that work beautifully together can be quite a challenge. We have done the work for you by creating five carefully curated palettes using Filcolana Arwetta, each offering the contrast needed to highlight the different sections of Color Kaleidoscope.

All you need to do is choose your favourite palette: Sous-bois, Bohème, Épices, Boréale or Grenadine… and let yourself be surprised!

The knitting kit includes:

•  8 × 50 g balls of Filcolana Arwetta
  (80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon)
  210 m / 50 g

A total of 1,680 metres of yarn.

● The Color Kaleidoscope Shawl pattern by Stephen West, available for purchase on Ravelry

● 3.5 mm – 100 cm circular needles, or the needle size required to obtain gauge

● Stitch markers

Gauge: 24 stitches × 48 rows = 10 cm in garter stitch, after blocking
