This pattern was born with the desire to have a knitted feather. To create it, Gabrielle Vézina observed feathers and played with lace stitches until the pattern resembled the assets of winged friends. The hat is made up of several "feathers" worked side by side. Each one begins with a large pattern and tapers toward the top of the hat. At this point, the distinction between the feathers fades to form a flower on the back of the head. The double ribbing made from a temporary cast on gives a neat finish and adds a bit of warmth to this openwork pattern.
